Hello everyone,
Today, I want to share the strategy that I've finally embraced and the journey that led me to it.
As I mentioned in a previous article, my intention was to proceed cautiously and thoughtfully plan the growth of my town; however, it proved to be quite daunting due to my lack of essential information required for making sound decisions. Numerous attempts and several blunders led me towards discovering what truly worked for me. As you can envision, all that trial and error completely depleted the energy bar at the start of my gaming session. Not just my vigor, but a significant amount of resources too.
At one point, I even pondered resetting my town and beginning anew. The tutorial indicated that this was an option, but in the end, I couldn't locate that feature anywhere. Luckily, I managed to capitalize on what I had already constructed.
My primary aim, which I suspect is shared by many players, was to maximize my resources. If citizens are necessary, they require homes, so of course, I aimed to keep the population to a minimum to avoid constructing excessive houses. This also meant striving not to duplicate buildings reliant on citizens for operation.
How naive I was. That strategy simply doesn’t cut it here.
In this game, you paradoxically need to do the exact opposite and erect multiple iterations of the same structures. Why? Because space is limited, and you can either not, or should not, demolish the buildings already present on your map at the game's onset, and the game mechanics themselves provide very few alternatives.
Thus, I eventually arrived at the rather exasperating realization that if I couldn’t extend the range of my influence buildings to access the structures that needed them, and moving those structures was also off the table, then I would have to establish a separate influence cluster alongside each building I wished to develop.
Yes, I thought exactly what you might be thinking right now: what a drain on resources!
On top of that, I was uncertain whether I could later dismantle an influence cluster without jeopardizing the rest of my layout. Since the game doesn't clarify if that’s possible, there was only one way to find out, so I embarked on some experimentation. There I was, placing marketplaces all over the place. I felt as though I was running a bazaar! Next on the list were the police stations. I haven't begun constructing fire stations yet since I haven’t needed to hit level 3, but... I'm sure that day will eventually come.
Ironically, despite all those missteps, I don’t harbor any regrets about them. In fact, I believe they deepened my understanding of the game far better than merely mimicking someone else's layout. Each failed attempt imparted new knowledge, and every adjustment made the next choice a tad simpler. Sometimes, the best approach to learning a game is to abandon the fear of making the perfect move and simply observe the outcomes. You might lose a few resources, but in exchange, you gain experience that no guide can truly impart.
I already understood that not everything would be straightforward, but I also knew it would be enjoyable. Experimenting and evolving. Building, reconstructing, and observing your little village gradually transforming into something grander. Witnessing how a few buildings slowly bloom into a thriving town is arguably one of the most fulfilling aspects of the game, and I think that’s what draws me back each day.
But that's a tale for the next chapter.

I'm sure almost everyone who starts the game goes through that "turning the city into a marketplace" phase. Those initial resources spent until you fully grasp the influence logic, and the energy bar that dies down in an instant, are a classic. I even smiled slightly at the part about searching for the reset button, because few of us haven't chased after it!
But I definitely agree with what you said: Instead of copying ready-made city layouts exactly, learning the logic through trial and error greatly enhances the enjoyment and satisfaction of the game. There's no doubt that from that initial chaotic market atmosphere, a huge, smoothly functioning city will emerge over time. And when you reach level 3 and start dealing with fire trucks, similar adventures seem to await you :)

hi, I think your right not knocking down the buildings and using them for producing is the way to go. when i first started this game and sore the energy. i was lost for words, with a good look through different areas. we can produce energy. with wine a goal for me .i just hope i make it there reimbursing my energy with word, what enervative way of doing it, ha ha we all could go for counsel jobs if we get it up and running with a income of gold. good luck to u all
