ok i write this because when i start the game nobody explain me this thing and i lose like one week before i understand it. maybe it help some new player, i hope. my problem in the begining was very simple. i build a factory, i put a worker inside, everything fine, production is going. then after some days the factory just stop. no worker. i check and the guy is gone. dead. i thaught it is a bug. so i build him again, and he die again after some days. i was so angry that moment haha. so the thing is the happiness. up in the bar on top of the town it say happiness in percent. before i never look this number, for me it was just a decoration like the others. it is NOT a decoration. that number is basically how long your people stay alive. the way i understand it now, happiness is the average level of your houses. if all your houses are level 1, then your happiness is 10%. if all are level 10, then is 100%. so it is an average of the houses, nothing more complicated. my houses was all level 1 because i spend all my money on factories and on gold, the classic noob mistake. and here is the part that really hurt me. with low happiness your citizen only live around 10 days. with full happiness they can live until 100 days. so my level 1 houses, with 10% happiness, was killing my workers after 10 days every single time. i was litterally building people only to watch them die one week and a half later. no chance. when a worker die, two things happen. the first one is his room become free again, ok that part is fine. but the second one, and this is the bad one, the building where he was working just stops. it does not find a new worker alone. it stay there empty and produce nothing until YOU go yourself and put a new person inside. so if you are not online and three workers die in the night, you wake up with three dead buildings and you dont even know it. also one small thing i learn after, the house itself decide the time. the houses have between 2 and 20 apartments depend on the level, and the level of the house where the worker LIVE is what give him from 10 to 100 days. so it is not enough to have one good house in the corner. the worker need to actually live inside the good one. so what i do now is different: - i upgrade the houses first, not last like before. it is boring but it is the base of all. - i try to keep the happiness high and not let it fall too much. - when i connect i always check my buildings first to see if some of them stopped, before anything else. it is maybe not the perfect explanation and somebody more advance can explain the math better than me. but the simple version is this: your houses are not only for the room. they are the life of all your town. low houses means short life, means dead factories, means you crying like me in the begining. if i could go back i tell to myself in day one: upgrade the houses. dont be like me and learn it the hard way after you lose the half of your town. ok that is all, good luck everybody.

This is an excellent lesson that many beginners learn only after losing production. Houses are much more than population capacity—they're also an investment in stability. Longer-lived workers mean fewer interruptions, less micromanagement, and a much more reliable production chain. It's one of those mechanics that doesn't seem important at first, but becomes fundamental as your town grows.
