For a long time I completely ignored the political part of this game. I assumed it was only for the big, important players and that it had nothing to do with a normal person like me who is just building a small town. After a while I understood that this was a mistake, and I want to explain why, because I think many new players make the same one. Here is the thing I did not realize at first. Each country has players who hold positions, and these players can pass laws. And those laws are not just decoration or flavor text. They actually change real conditions in the game, things like the taxes you pay when you sell or work, and the bonuses that are available to you. So the rules your town lives under every single day are partly decided by other players. When I understood that, it stopped feeling like background noise. The conclusion from this is simple. If you ignore politics completely, you are just accepting whatever rules other people decide for you. You might be complaining about your taxes while never once looking at who set them or whether you could have supported someone with a better policy. That was exactly me for my first weeks. Now, you do not have to run for office yourself. I want to be clear about that, because it can feel intimidating. Holding a position does come with real advantages, from what I have seen the players in power can enjoy things like lower taxes and bigger bonuses, so there is a genuine reason ambitious players chase it. But you do not need to go that far to benefit. At the minimum, what every player can do is pay attention. Look at who is currently in charge of your country. Look at what laws are active before you complain that your margins feel thin. And use your support, your vote and endorsement, for the candidates whose direction actually helps players like you. From what I understand, the most supported players are the ones who end up holding the positions, so your endorsement is not wasted, it literally helps decide who gets the power to set those laws. Let me give a small example of how this touched me directly, even as a small player. When I sell things, or when I do work, a part is taken as tax, and the size of that tax is not fixed by the sky, it is shaped by the laws that are in force. So a player who never looks at politics can lose a slice of every single sale and never understand why it feels like the numbers do not add up. I was that player. I blamed the market, when really I should have looked at the rules. The same is true for bonuses. Some of the rewards and bonuses you can collect are connected to the decisions made by the people in charge. So the political climate of your country quietly decides part of how generous the game is to you. It is easy to miss because it is not shouted at you, it is just sitting there in the background, working for you or against you. And how do you actually start, if it feels like too much at first. What worked for me was to keep it small. I just opened the laws and read which ones are active right now, slowly, without trying to understand every detail at once. After a couple of times it stopped looking like a wall of text and started to make some sense. And I noticed that even my single endorsement counts for something, because it is all the small players together who decide who gets in, not only the big famous ones. The way I think about it now is that politics is just another layer of the strategy, like the market or the production chain. You can play and ignore it, sure, but then you are leaving a part of the game on the table, and worse, you are letting other people set your tax rates without ever giving your opinion. For the cost of a few minutes of attention, you can at least have a say. So my honest beginner to moderate advice is this. Spend a little time looking at the political tab even if it seems boring at first. Understand which laws are affecting your taxes and bonuses right now. Support the people whose policies are good for small and growing players, because those are the conditions you operate under too. You do not have to become a politician, but you should not pretend the politics does not touch your town, because it does, every day. Once I started paying attention, I felt much less like the game was just happening to me, and more like I was actually part of how my country is run.

Your post is an excellent reminder that the political system in CoinRepublik is not just background noise but a real part of the game that shapes everyday play. I particularly appreciate how you explain that laws directly affect taxes and bonuses, meaning even small towns feel the impact of political decisions. The strongest points are your emphasis on: a. Voting and endorsements as meaningful actions that influence who sets the rules. b. Taxes and bonuses being determined by active laws, not fixed by chance. c. Small players having genuine influence when they pay attention and support candidates.

Thank you for this eye-opening article! I used to completely ignore the political side of the game, thinking it only mattered for big players. Your explanation about how laws directly influence taxes, bonuses, and daily earnings completely changed my perspective. Now I check active laws regularly and support candidates who help smaller towns. Great advice – politics is indeed a powerful layer of strategy!
