Welcome to the Community

Three rooms where the players meet, and the one that pays you back · 10 min read

Up to now this handbook has taught you to run a town more or less on your own - claiming land, raising buildings, recruiting people, making goods. But CoinRepublik is full of thousands of other real players doing exactly the same thing, and the Community is where you finally meet them. It is the social heart of the game: a place to read what others have written, share your own thoughts, ask questions, and simply talk. You will find it in the left menu, tucked just under Town, waiting whenever you want a break from the spreadsheet side of things.

Let me set you at ease before we explore. Nothing in the Community can hurt your town. You can wander in, read everything, follow a few people, and leave again without spending a single coin or risking anything you have built. There is no pressure to post on your first day, and quietly reading is a perfectly good way to start. So treat this chapter as a gentle tour of a friendly neighbourhood rather than a list of chores - we are just learning where the rooms are and what each one is for.

The three rooms

The Community is divided into three sections, and the quickest way to understand it is to picture three rooms in one building, each with a different mood. Once you know what each room is for, you will always know where to go.

  • Articles - longer, considered pieces about the game, written by players and read by players. This is the room that pays you back: energy for reading, gold for writing.
  • Tweets - a fast, casual social feed of short posts and images, much like the social networks you already know.
  • Forum - classic discussion boards where conversations live on, organised into threads you can reply to over days and weeks.

Notice how the three rooms differ in pace. Articles are slow and thoughtful - someone sat down and wrote at length, and you sit down and read. Tweets are quick and chatty, a passing thought or a screenshot shared in seconds. The Forum sits in between: slower than the feed, but built to keep a discussion going long after it starts. Knowing the pace of each room tells you instinctively where a given thing belongs - a quick reaction is a tweet, a real question is a forum thread, and a proper guide is an article.

Only one room pays you

Here is the single most important thing to carry out of this first lesson, because it shapes how you should think about the whole section. Of the three rooms, only Articles rewards you - energy when you read one, and gold when you write ones that others enjoy. Tweets and the Forum give no rewards at all. That is not an oversight; it is a deliberate design choice, and understanding why will make the whole Community make sense.

The reasoning is simple and fair. Rewards always attract people who chase the reward rather than the activity, so the one rewarded room - Articles - is carefully reviewed before anything appears, to keep it genuine and on-topic. The social rooms, Tweets and the Forum, are left completely free of rewards precisely so that people post there for the joy of talking, not to farm energy. It keeps the chatter honest. Nobody is spamming the feed for a payout, because there is no payout to chase.

Rewards live in the Articles room

Reading articles earns you energy; writing them earns you gold, paid from the game fund and never taxed. Tweets and the Forum never pay at all. So if you have come to the Community to earn, head for Articles - and if you have simply come to chat, the feed and the forum are yours to enjoy with no strings attached.

Everything here is watched over

A healthy community needs a little tending, and CoinRepublik handles that in two ways depending on the room. Articles and the comments on them are reviewed before they ever become visible - until an admin approves a piece, it sits quietly as pending and only its author can see it. Tweets and the forum, by contrast, appear straight away, but every one of them carries a Report button, and admins moderate them after the fact whenever something is flagged. The admin team, including the account named coinrepublik, looks after all of it.

This watching-over is there for you, not against you. It is what keeps the Community a place worth visiting - on-topic, free of spam, and safe from the worst of the internet. When your own first article sits as pending for a little while, that is the system working exactly as intended, not a sign that anything has gone wrong. We will return to that calmly in a later lesson so it never catches you by surprise.

So that is the lay of the land: three rooms - Articles, Tweets, and the Forum - of which only Articles pays energy, all of them gently moderated to stay pleasant. In the next lesson we will step into the Articles room properly and learn the easiest way to earn from it: simply reading, and the single honest half-minute that turns a read into energy.
