OK, you’d registered and logged in. Now you are at your town awaitng your orders. And you probably already ready to click your mouse… But wait. Act smart, not fast. Take a breath. Ask yourself: what is my vision of my future town? What is my vision of me myself in the game? Do you want to build a biggest ever town spanning on the whole map? Or maybe you want a compact one? A village-like town with only starting-level buildings? Or maybe an ultra-upgraded one? Do you want to become a market-maker moving prices force and back? Or maybe an unstoppable military leader roaming over the worls smashing any town on your way? Think about the answer carefully - because different goals mean different ways. The trading town is not the same as a military-camping one. Well, now you know what you’ll pursue. Is it time for mouse-clicking? No. Act smart, not fast. Plan your town. Remember: every move costs. You spend energy, you spend materials, you spend time - and if you spend them chaotically you just loose them. Imagin: to build a 10-level house you must build 1-level one, then upgrade it to 2nd level, to the 3rd, and so on - spending more and more valuable resources, energy, time on each turn… Only finally be forced to destroy it to the ground just b’cause its place was bloody wrongly selectd from the very start. So plan your town before you’ll begin to build it. Hold in mind that every building requires a road to City Hall, an it you’re planning to upgrade it it requires a service building neaby - each of it reqiures a road too - and almost every building requires a Worker or even a Specialist per level. Tip: all service building have equal area of influence. It is a «filled cross»; to discover it set two squares apart plus one per additional level above first on every four sides of the building then «fill» it. Leave a last square on every ray as it is; add a single square to both sides of a second square toward the building; add two squares to both sides on a third one and so on. The resulting «zig-zag square» will be an area of influence of the building. OK, you’ll plan your future town. Now you know where producing building will be, which level the’ll have and what services will be required. Is it time to build? No. Act smart, not fast. Remember, almost every building requires a worker. But your initial population can’t be assigned to any of it! So if you’ll build, say, a Warehouse, you’ll receive an Warehouse that cannot be run due Worker absence. So you MUST hire a new people… and they MUST have a roof over the head. In other words, you MUST build house(s) or upgrade one(s). Yes, the House is the only building you can build that not requiers a Worker; instead, it gives you rooms for two additional Workers per level. So start to build or upgrade House(s) first - and don’t forget to adjust you general plan for Houses. Act smart, not fast. Tip: consider to gradually upgrade your initial structures. Every building, every road in the game decays with time; every but exept your initial structures. So once being upgraded they offer all benefits without any penalties. Yes! You’ve started your first construction. No it’s time to produce something. Among your initial building there are a full set of Raw materials producing buildings. Enter every of them and start a production. But remember: act smart, not fast. Albeit all of them level 1 buildings some of them can produce more than one type of goods. So before send an order check requirements for every product being offered to produce - and what construction consumed. Try to produce enough goods that are in regular need prior to produce some that are required occasionally. Almost every move in the game requires Energy. As a newcomer you have a small pack of products that restore it. But not hurry. Act smart, not fast. Remember: you can’t collect more than 1000 Energy. So it is a good idea to play a while and see if you regenerate enough during rest periods. And if and only if you loose notably more than regenerate use your pack. Finally one more thing. Money. Yes, money is vital here too. But not rush into Gold mining immediately. Act smart, not fast. Head to Learn section - you’ll find it at the bottom in left menu. Read the Handbook. Answer questions. Don’t hurry, there’s no time limit here. Answer questions right. Have you noticed? Your Gold balance starts to grow. Yes, every right answer brings you Gold - but every wrong takes it back. So act smart, not fast. Think on every answer; re-read the explanation if you’re not sure. Then enter into The First Week section. Do the same - answer and receive a reward. Finally, try Exam. It is much harder because you have only 10 minutes to answer 20 questions and you must succeed at least in 15. But if you’ll pass - the reward be notable. Tip: you can consult the Handbook during Exam (opened in another tab of your browser). You’ll not have enough time to do it. So read the Handbook carefully before Exam, not during it. This is a brief introduction into the Coinrepublik world. Many aspects are being leaved aside; you’re welcome to discover them by yourself. But remember all the time: Act smart. Not fast.

I really like the central idea of this guide: planning before building. It's easy for new players to rush into construction and waste energy, materials, and time fixing mistakes later. The reminder to upgrade houses first for additional workers is especially useful, and the advice about studying the Handbook before taking the Exam can save beginners a lot of frustration.
